Projects, Areas, Resources, And Archives
The PARA method is a popular organizational system designed by productivity expert Tiago Forte . It stands for Projects, Areas, Resources, and Archives.
The core philosophy is to organize information based on actionability (how soon you need to use it) rather than by topic or category.
Here is how the four categories break down:
🗂️ The Four Pillars of PARA
• Projects (Most Actionable): A series of tasks linked to a goal, with a specific deadline or completion date.
• Examples: "Complete Q4 marketing report," "Plan trip to Japan," "Redesign website."
• Areas (Ongoing Responsibilities): Spheres of activity with a standard to be maintained over time, with no final end date.
• Examples: "Health & Fitness," "Finances," "Product Management," "Car Maintenance."
• Resources (Interests & Reference): Topics or themes of ongoing interest that you might want to reference in the future.
• Examples: "Graphic design inspiration," "Healthy recipes," "Python coding notes," "SEO best practices."
• Archives (Inactive Items): Inactive items from the other three categories. You keep them for historical reference but remove them from your daily view.
• Examples: "Completed projects," "Past client accounts," "Areas you are no longer responsible for."
